VW Caddy 2.0 TDI: Intermittent No-Start & Loss of Terminal 15 Power

Vehicle: VW Caddy 2.0 TDI | System: Engine Management / Power Distribution

Overview

Symptom: Engine cranks with no start condition; sporadic instrument cluster behavior.

Primary Cause: Fractured and corroded (0.35mm²) bl/ge wire in the engine bay harness causing intermittent Terminal 15 main power relay drop-out to the ECM.

The Fix: Find the offending wire in the harness, behind the battery area, open the harness at that point and repair with a soldered joint and wrap in waterproof heat connector shield. Re-tape harness and re-route/secure it in place.

Volkswagen Golf with a weird misfire complaint

This VW Golf 1.2 TSI is experiencing a definite misfire under load.

What’s the problem?

The customer reports that the ignition coil and spark plug leads have recently been replaced.

Curiously, the misfire seemed to decrease after the number four spark plug lead was swapped back to one of the original components.
